What is a Meditation Retreat like given by this teacher?
A Meditation retreat with Bhante Vimalaramsi is designed to help the practitioner develop awareness and observation skills with the goal of continuation in daily life. Retreat time is a special quiet time to observe more closely HOW mind's attention moves and to discover the process that leads to the relief of suffering, anxiety, fear, dread, grief, guilt, depression, and dissatisfaction.
Through this practice, as we become more calm, one sees clearly what craving and clinging actually are in keeping with the meaning found in the discourses of the Buddha. We experience for ourselves how this path, through persistent practice and
commitment, can lead to a relief from suffering , to total freedom and peace of mind.
During the retreat we practice sitting and walking meditation, as well as the continuation throughout all activities, observing
the movements of mind in each present moment. In this way we develop new wholesome tendencies of releasing distractions and staying present. Following the retreat, we carry this new holesome habitual pattern back into our lives and continue to develop it.
This training is not only for on the cushion. It’s an All-the-Time practice.
We begin to see how the practice can be carried over into our everyday
lives and how this new more harmonious perspective can be applied to
all aspects of daily life; making life much , much easier & fun for us. This
leads to positive change!
We invite you to come and try this approach. Discover for yourself what
the Buddha uncovered and taught. There are daily interviews with the
teacher to keep us on track. And Dhamma talks each night. The center
community shares the development & maintenance work, helps with
cooking, and other chores.
Exploring what the Buddha taught and experiencing the practice of meditation
as life…. this is what this practice is all about.
All levels of experience are invited to practice and grow together
in this supportive atmosphere.
Come and see.
