Weekend Retreats

Special 4-day concentrated weekend retreats will be offered this summer beginning on May 21st.

Arrival into the center will be on Wednesday evening.

They will begin on Thursday mornings and run until 8PM on Sunday evenings.

They will continue during the summer as long as they are attended.

Sunday Morning

Each Sunday Morning services with meditation session.

There will be a general Dhamma talk and then a story for children.

After this there will be a Pot luck meal time and then possibly games for the children in the forest and fields.

Rains Retreat Classes -

Meditation Training

                                   a.) Dependent Origination - Deeper study course- includes a chse through the texts following the Buddha teaching Dependent Origination in relationship to the meditation practice. We will learn the links with easy definitions and learn how to observe them in meditation AND life. This class will connect for us how Dependent Origination teaches us the 4 Noble Truths and the Three Characteristics too.

                                   b.) Build a Buddhist Glossary -  We will each be collecting the primary Pali words used, with English translations, that each us the meditation practice adn explain Buddhism. Each person will build your own Buddhist glossary.

                                    c.) Compassionate Service project--> Beginning compassionate service for the elderly in our area. There will be some serivices offered to help local elder centers with whatever they need done and we will join in with this project.  Also we will get started assisting Disabled Veterans in the new Universal Peace Cabin for retreat.

Building

We will all be helping with finishing our Kitchen/Dining/Community Center this summer too and helping with landscaping projects and gardens.
